This past week I was traveling on business to Mexico. Personally, I don’t mind business travel. It’s a nice break from the office routine, a little alone time (i.e. not picking up after the kids, cooking dinner, etc.), and a chance to connect with colleagues in other areas.
And yes, a chance to go out and enjoy a meal and a cocktail BY MYSELF. (For those of you who missed it, here’s a picture of the tequila flight I treated myself to. 😊
Traveling for business does require certain skills however. When I travel for business I’m careful not to pack too much so that I can carry on my luggage. (I once heard someone say there are two kinds of luggage: carry-on and lost.)
For example if I’m wearing dress pants I’ll try to wear them more than once with different tops. I try not to pack more than one pair of shoes. And I try to avoid having to pack a coat if at all possible!
This is me working in a windowless conference room. Much more of this and I'll need a vitamin D shot!
What about you? Do you enjoy business travel or find it a nuisance? What are your best suggestions? Let me know in the comments!
